PURE STANDARD PERFORMANCE TYPE BULLDOGS
Thank you for stopping by the Knowles Kennel Web Site.
I bet I have been in your shoes before. You are probably browsing the web looking at different American Bulldog sites. Seeing
all the differences in the look of the breed, looking at the history behind the dogs, and trying to figure out what all the abbreviations and the titles beside the dog's name mean. Well, let me tell you how I got hooked on this magnificent breed of dog.
In 1992, I was in Labelle Florida hog hunting with some friends and their troop of dogs. They had Pit Bulls, Ridgebacks and some mixed breeds to name a few, these were all good hog catching dogs. That afternoon changed my mind about owning any other working type dog again. A new dog came to join the troop for the evening hunt. It was the first American Bulldog I had ever seen. From just one look at him, this dog gave you a feeling of power, courage and intelligence. After we loaded up the trucks, I started asking questions about this awesome dog my new friend brought to the hunt. But all he said was wait and watch him in action and he will answer all of your questions. By the time we were heading back to camp I knew I was buying an American Bulldog.
What I found out that day was this is the strongest, most tenacious, loyal, intelligent dog ever. My first American Bulldog Maverick who I still own and work, portrays all of these important qualities. I have bred, trained, hunted and loved other dogs, but there is no comparison to an American Bulldog.
